Who are we?
NHS Digital is the national information and technology provider for the health and care system. Our teams create, develop and manage critical digital systems, services, products and standards upon which health and care professionals depend. Our vision is to harness the power of information and technology to provide better health and care.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for talented and driven individuals who want to start a new career in Software Development.  You will be passionate about new technologies, be full of initiative, and above all, have a willingness to learn and grow.
We value diversity and inclusion, which is why our scheme is open to applications from individuals regardless of background, university and degree course.
  • You must have or be expecting a 2:1 Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

What Projects Will You Be Involved In?
As a graduate you will start by joining one of our teams for your first placement.  Over the 2 years you will get the opportunity to work on different teams and projects to help you get a wide experience of the kinds of roles we have in the Software Development profession.
Software lies at the heart of our daily lives.  Many of our interactions are now through applications and services. The quality, take up and efficiency of these interactions is massively influenced by well designed software.  This is an opportunity to join NHS Digital and help write software to be transformative for services across health and care, be they national systems or those targeted at specific areas and users.  You will join teams from across the organisation, learning from highly motivated subject matter experts and contribute to our successful deliveries.
You won’t be on your own! You’ll be working with other graduates, both new to the role like yourself, and those who have been on previous graduate schemes. Along with the wider team, a career manager and community of practice your support network couldn’t be better for getting your career off to a great start.
How Will You Be Rewarded?
Great work deserves great rewards. In return for your ideas, commitment and ambition, we'll give you a competitive salary, 27 days annual leave and a range of NHS benefits as soon as you join.
The graduate scheme is designed to attract talented and motivated individuals with fresh ideas to our organisation, and offer them the opportunity to gain the skills, knowledge and experience needed to become a permanent member of our team.  Candidates who successfully complete the scheme will be guaranteed an offer of employment.

We are looking for good problem solvers, people who work well with other people and want to use technology when it’s the best answer.  Prospective members of the software development profession must be comfortable with writing code – we’re less concerned with any specific technology and more into your thought processes as to how you approach writing software.
Please ensure that you complete all supporting application questions as they will inform our initial shortlisting process
