Position Description
SRC, Inc. is currently seeking an engineer to work out of Syracuse, N.Y. in our Intelligence Systems and Analytics business area. The engineer will be conducting sensor feed development, distributed computation and algorithms, mobile computing, and executing tests for military-type scenarios.
  • Perform software development and integration within an agile development process
  • Develop real-time, streaming data feeds from external sensors and analysis algorithms
  • Perform software development within a distributed architectural environment
  • System/software analysis activities to include integration, test and evaluation of system performance and algorithm effectiveness using military-style scenarios
  • Mobile computing, i.e. Android development
  • Perform integration of open source machine learning (ML) algorithms or similar reasoning development

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer systems engineering, or related degree; master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 or more (3+) years of experience designing and developing software
  • Experience with software development using at least one of Java, C, C++, JavaScript and/or Python; familiarity with more than one of these languages a plus
  • Knowledge of distributed architectures and service-oriented infrastructure design principles
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design (OOD) principles

Preferred Requirements
  • Experience with distributed Big Data (e.g. Hadoop 2) and streaming (e.g. Apache Spark) or similar architectures
  • Familiarity with asynchronous communication, time synchronicity, and fault tolerance
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience or academic training in distributed computation will be especially useful
  • Experience with web services, i.e. Restful Interfaces
  • Experience with mobile development
