What you will do:
Our JR FPGA Engineer is responsible for the design and development of FPGA HDL modules for Audio/Video processing, data communication and related system functions related to medical grade video distribution and processing systems. Responsible for integrity of the designs and quality of the products. The JR FPGA Engineer is also responsible for providing realistic estimates, listing assumptions and risks to the project schedule and executing its tasks per provided commitments.
What your days may look like – We are a fast growing and dynamic company. No day at Novanta is ever the same! However you can expect to:
  • Design, implementation, test and verification of video processing and related Verilog HDL modules according to system requirements and medical industry standard procedures

  • Development of optional C control software for internal or external controllers

  • Authoring of supporting design documentation to a high quality standard.

  • Development of test harnesses to verify developed items using pass/fail test benches Integration of the developed firmware on the target hardware with other system components and software.

  • Providing progress and technical updates to the project leader or manager.

  • Providing project schedule estimates and technical risk identification.

  • Translating and implementing high level requirements into an effective FPGA design under the supervision of Sr. FPGA designer.

Education/Experience Necessary/Skills and Knowledge:
  • MS degree in electronics/engineering related subject

  • Experience in the field of FPGA development preferably in the Video/Audio management domain. Position is suitable for skillful fresh graduates.

  • English written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of FPGA internal and external blocks – embedded memory, transceivers, memory controllers, PLLs

  • Experience with Altera Quartus II development environment is advantage.

  • Basic understanding of hardware, schematics, EMI and digital communication interfaces – I2C, SPI, UART

  • Advantage is an experience with documentation generation: Requirements, design, interface specification, test specifications.
